If I do fannish stuff, especially in Who, I usually crosspost it to dw_slash and slash_lords, and it gets picked up by who_daily, so you're not missing anything. And you? Will avoid being *flamed*. I'm pissed off way too easily, and a bitchy elitist about what I consider *good* Science Fiction: I mostly prefer sci-fi and fantasy pre-mid-eighties. Because? In the days of yore, television didn't talk down to you as much. Well, not as much as it does now. I don't like the way modern TV, especially RTD's stuff hammers the point home through ANVILS, (i.e. making the characters speak and point out their motivations) when through good writing, the messages could be far more *subtle*, far more intriguing. I also don't like characters being smug about themselves, so that's an instant turn-off. If the media treats me as an intellectual adult, I will love it. Hence my love of old-school Who until Androzani, Blake's 7 and The Prisoner, Robin of Sherwood, and so on.

Also? Please not to be pimping Torchwood to me or gushing about the characters and the pairings therein, or this baby bunny gets it. Just... do not want.

I spam a lot. Okay, not so much these days, but anyway. And mostly about Doctor Who... and if you have love for Rusty or can't get the fuck over St. Rose, you will *not* want to click on that "friend" button if you know what's good for you. I'm an oldskooler, and if you don't give a toss about classic Who, it might just be that you and I are from completely different planets and there might not be much point in striking up a conversation--you wouldn't know what the hell I was going on about if I gushed about Roger Delgado, and I'd cast pitying glances in your direction for thinking self-indulgent fanwank orgies and Mary Sue fapfests actually constituted good writing.

And I would really appreciate it if you introduced yourself in a comment/if we'd had some actual conversations (on communities, not just on my own LJ) before you friend me, especially if you want me to friend you back. Otherwise I get a feeling of someone looking on my shoulder and that makes me uncomfortable. I hate gawkers. Imagine if, in real life, you were chatting with a bunch of friends and someone you've never met just sat at your table and *stared* at you? Saying nothing, just *staring*? See, that's what it feels like.

So, say hello at least, ok? And read the disclaimers on this page, 'cos I can get flamey about a few things. If you friend me without asking, don't act surprised or passive-aggressive and whiny if you get flamed or banned on sight. Because that just means you have been too stupid to read someone's profile. I don't bash characters/ships unless they're incredibly badly written and/or fucking offensive--especially when it comes to sexism, women written so that their existence revolves around the men. And whenever the writer is dropping huge motherfucking anvils, making points in giant neon letters. Being condescending to the viewer. Writing everyone like they were 13. Trying to scream LOOK, AREN'T WE POLITICALLY CORRECT with, say, multi-racial casting and dropping in gay characters doesn't matter much when you, mostly the male writers, still write the women to outdated patriarchal stereotypes. Explaining the plot... no. There hasn't been much good telly after the early/mid-Eighties, with only a few exceptions (such as Life on Mars, for example). There's a reason why I prefer archive TV, old British telefantasy and drama. And have great hate for most American drivel, Torchwood, Uncle Rusty... especially when there's a lot of potential there, lots of good ideas and then it falls on its face. Which reminds me, Any praise of 7th Doc is better avoided with me. This is as polite as I'm going to be about it. Same as with Rusty, really. Wasted fucking potential.

The images take ages to load, WONK THE SIZE OF THE WINDOW, especially if they're from the stupid sites that include LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG graphs and spam links. One on the post itself is quite enough. I surprise myself for sometimes taking them, but that's just out of sheer boredom.

I will play with language and use Internet slang with humour and irony. But when it gets to the point of using "lol" as punctuation (or all over your sentences), like "lolxoxoxo" or "hehehehehehe" it makes you look like a ditzy bimbo teen idiot. If you regularly type "xoxoxo hun" and think giggling "idfk bff lolwhut" at each other is extremely funny as far as conversations go... eh. Save that for the sort of airheads who enjoy it.

Also, I honestly think that typing in all lowercase letters makes you look like a fucking twat. It's devaluing yourself and others because you don't bother to communicate with them properly. And making yourself look oh-so-tiny and airy-fairy-like, this poor poor pitiable creature, oh, look at me--it's just IRRITATING as fuck. Teengoths, pretentiousness, and drama are the words that come to mind. It's a way of posing saying "look what a fragile little butterfly i am", just as ALL UPPERCASE LETTERS MEAN YOU'RE BRIAN BLESSEEEEED AND SHOUTIIIIIING. It's the equivalent of talking in a squeaky mousey "I'm not worthy, eep, please don't hurt me, I'm so little, poor poor me, o miserable me" sort of way. So, please, use that Shift key when you're communicating with me, ok? This is one of those things that'll make me insta-ban people if it happens in several comments over and over, no matter how nice the content, because the squeaking makes my blood boil. I'm severely allergic to that shit.

Fuck, even dyslexia isn't an excuse in the age of automatic spellcheckers. Especially when you're writing fic. But then again, I have dyscalculia and a lack of spatial awareness, which is why I don't even bother creating 3D artwork, do handicrafts or drive a car, let alone expect people to admire the results when I do. This may make me a language fascist, but fuckit, I want to be able to have a discussion with someone who can string a sentence together, not someone who comes across like a six-year old. I've got overdeveloped language centers in my brain, so that sort of crackly language signal irritates and hurts my brain so fucking much I just want to smite, because by typing like a twat, you've just slapped me in the face. And I can't bring myself to feel guilty about it, sad to say. So, basically, if you're a lazy typist, can't be bothered to use capital letters and check your spelling, don't be surprised if I don't enter into discussion with you--it's like talking to someone speaking a different language in an obscure dialect with their mouth full of porridge.

I also enjoy studying Tantric mysteries(they are not all about sex, BTW--more about seeing divinity in everything and about the veneration of Shakti). I also identify with Scientific Pantheism. I always question everything, just like most Neo-Pagans. But when I *do* feel it, and *see* it, I believe it. My worldview is not in conflict with science, it embraces it and derives great satisfaction from it.

I am 50/50 Bisexual. Sensuality, sex and erotica are very important things in my life. There is nothing like pure erotic energy--it's synonymous with creativity, for me. So don't get offended if I talk about wanking and sex a lot, and openly. Yes, women have sex drives too. Shock horror. If you feel this is somehow wrong (and I'm looking at you, kids), newsflash: no-one is forcing you to read it. Don't come crying to me if an NC-17 fic makes you horny or if I just mentioned I enjoy a bit of bondage and spanking. If you have hang-ups about sex and are generally sex-negative or prudish, just... don't bother. This LJ is chock full of ladyfapping, timecock, bummings and riding crops, just so you know. I reckon that's what people come in here for, but there are always a few confused individuals who come in looking for porn and then get offended when they find it, so, yeah. I don't know either, man.

I'm obsessive about fannish things, grammar/spelling and historical accuracy. I live for British telefantasy (mostly old stuff, especially old Doctor Who and Blake's 7) and love producing and consuming fan art and fan fiction (mostly m/m and f/f slash and the odd bit of good het--YES, HET CAN BE GOOD). I love studying design, history (especially the 17th century), religions, especially Hinduism and Shakta Tantra, cultural anthropology, linguistics (English and Finnish) and Women's Studies. I babble a lot. Which is odd for a Finn, but there you go. BTW, the Finnish sense of humour is usually very sarcastic, deadpan, and dry. So beware--if you think I've insulted you, I might just be joking (and if I flamed you, you would know. I may be subtle with humour, but never subtle when I get pissed off). Humour keeps people alive. Because when everything's FUBAR, you'd rather laugh than cry, right? Right.

Also? In case you haven't noticed yet, I'm mental. I've had a lot of bad shit going down in the past and it's all made me rather fucked in the head. Combined with a brain that's hypersensitive in bits, this means things can get ugly. Those hypersensitive bits mean I'm way too fucking irritable and easily depressed and offended, and I don't like that either. It's exactly why I'm making these huge, long, epic disclaimers--just so you will know what sort of a nutter you're dealing with. I didn't choose my neurological makeup or my family, and believe it or not, I don't actually enjoy yelling at people. The only thing the mentalness is sometimes good for is inspiration and art and cracky humour, but yeah, the linguistic and visual goodies come with one hell of a jumpy, crazy bitch attached. So... PLEASE allow me the benefit of the doubt and a lot of free space. Because I get easily paranoid and you will NOT like me when I'm paranoid.
